Dining: Cocktails with a View

Chicago has one of the most beautiful skylines in the country. With acclaimed architecture, a lake that looks more like an ocean and a winding river throughout the downtown, it’s easy to understand why people talk about Chicago. One of the best places to take in said view can be found at The Signature Lounge, located on the top of the John Hancock Center on Michigan Avenue.

At first mention, you might think that this venue is only for tourists and that it would provide the expected overpriced cocktail and crowded tables. The Signature Lounge is a tourist attraction, it’s true, but more for it’s unbeatable views and acclaimed reputation as a not-to-be missed sight than over-hyped tourist trap. And you might be surprised to learn that they offer an expansive cocktail menu with strong and tasty drinks to enjoy as you take in some of the best views of Chicago and its lake.

From the classic dirty martini, cleverly named the Michigan Avenue Martini, to the more exotic Rush Street made with Bailey’s Irish Cream, Frangelico, Amaretto DiSaranno, and cream, the beverage choices are endless. Complete the experience with a light hors d’oeuvre off of the bar menu and you might just find yourself enjoying the perfect cocktail hour. However, don’t become too comfortable at your table because some of the angles of the city skyline can best be taken in by making a trip around the room.
